Behind the Scenes of Our Boathouse Row Styled Shoot

After sharing the three final looks from this Boathouse Row styled shoot, I wanted to share a little more of the process behind it all. Styled shoots like this are always a mix of planning, collaboration and creative instinct, and it was so fun seeing each concept come to life throughout the day.

Lisa and her team at With Love Weddings and Events led the planning and creative direction for the shoot, creating multiple completely different looks that still felt cohesive as a whole. The moodboards played a huge part in shaping the colour palettes, florals, textures, and overall feel of each setup before we even arrived on site.

From Concept to Final Styling

Each look had its own direction. The first was earthy and grounded by the water, the second brighter and more playful, and the third more textural with richer tones and layered styling.

Watching those ideas evolve into fully styled spaces was such a reminder of how much collaboration goes into shoots like this. Every vendor brought something different to the table, which made the final result feel creative, considered and natural.

Even with overcast weather for most of the day, the soft light ended up working perfectly across all three looks, especially alongside the mix of digital and film photography.

As an Auckland wedding photographer, shoots like this are one of my favourite things to be part of. They give everyone the chance to experiment, try new ideas and create something a little different from a typical wedding day.
