February 2020 – Monthly Favourites

Here’s some of my favourite things from the last month… let me know if you’ve been enjoying any of them too!

  • PODCAST// The Love Club.
The Love Club is a brand new podcast hosted by Brisbane Wedding Photographer Kate Robinson full of advice on marriage, relationships and expert insights. You might be thinking, “you’re just a single gal Lyd why are you listening to that?” Yes, I’m a little biased because Kate is my eldest sister, but I love listening to it too. I truly believe when you’re in a season of being single (yes I did just say that #cringe) it’s the best time to work on yourself, and learn what makes a great relationship so you’ll be even better prepared once you’re in one. Maybe I’m just on the self-work train at the moment but does anyone else agree? No matter what stage you’re at this is a great podcast to listen to and learn from. There is so much content out there around wedding planning which is amazing, but actual marriage takes a lot of dedicated work. This is a helpful resource which I think there is a definite need for. Go and have a listen now!

  • WEDDING PLANNER// Together Journal x An Organised Life.
There are a lot of amazing paper planners out there for brides and I have mentioned this one before but I wanted to share it again. A collaboration between Together Journal and An Organised Life, what a duo!

Made from beautiful materials and structured in helpful sections, this would be the perfect wedding planning companion. You can even get it monogrammed with your names, love it!

  • NETWORKING/INSPIRATION// Creative Mornings.
You may have spotted me attending these monthly events over on my Instagram Stories. They are free events hosted all over the world (in 214 cities across 65 countries) and anyone can attend, you just need to sign up. They usually have a speaker, that could be a poet, photographer, musician, activist, illustrator or anyone creative and they give a short talk. There’s always free coffee and breakfast too.

From their website… “In 2008, Tina Roth Eisenberg (Swissmiss) started CreativeMornings out of a desire for an ongoing, accessible event for New York’s creative community. The concept was simple: breakfast and a short talk one Friday morning a month. Every event would be free of charge and open to anyone.”

I’ve met some really interesting people at these events and it’s always an inspiring morning, find one near you!

  • NETWORKING/INSPIRATION// Girl Goals Collective.
Yes another inspiring event recommendation! I recently attended the Girls Goals Collective brunch here in London. I have been to similar kind of events in NZ but had always thought it would be nice to find something like it in London. Girl Goals was started by two kiwi girls (we are such a talented bunch!) and it was a brunch + panel discussion with inspiring women who were all freelancers or business owners. I met some lovely people and it was a beautiful event! I know this is a very London recommendation so not super helpful to a lot of you, but if you’re in NZ I’d highly recommend Girls in Business events, I can’t wait to attend them when I return home. There you go, a little bonus favourite!

I hope you enjoyed these Feb faves. Let me know if you discovered anything new! Talk soon lovers xx

P.S. Throwback profile of me taken by my good friend Brijana, thinking of dyeing my hair back to that, we’ll see…
