I went to the same high school as Peta for a few years back in my hometown, and was stoked when she reached out to me about how she had found her perfect match and wanted me to shoot their Monte Cecilia park wedding. These two are completely smitten and their wedding day was the most fun, relaxed day which suited them to a tee. Check out their engagement shoot here, just in case you missed it!
Peta and James really wanted a outdoor, picnic-style wedding where they could include all their friends and family and celebrate in a beautiful and carefree way. The chose a gorgeous spot in Monte Cecilia Park in Auckland, the perfect setting on a sunny day. Their family and friends all came together setting up a platter table, donut wall, blankets and chairs for their casual outdoor reception, which they held straight after the ceremony. There were heartfelt speeches, both bride and groom sang to each other (they got to know each other through music in their church so it was quite fitting!), lots of hugs and joy. One special moment was the bridesmaids walking down the aisle, with their partners and children alongside them. Peta really wanted to honour these relationships, not just with her girlfriends but their families as a whole and their importance in hers and James’ lives. We snuck away later for bridal party and couple portraits in a couple of pretty locations.
Another funny coincidence as we pulled up to a west Auckland park happened… we spotted a super-cute camper-van parked up and couldn’t resist asking the owner if we could take a few snaps, it was like the perfect prop for Peta and James’ relaxed, bohemian vibe day. Chris, the camper-van owner was really kind and stoked to help us… after posting one of this images later on my Facebook page, we discovered that Chris was another one of my 2018 brides (Jess’) brother, what are the chances?! Little old NZ, am I right?! More from Jess’ wedding soon! For now, check out this stunner of a day, I am so grateful to have captured the memories xx
