It doesn’t need to be said that we are coming into that busy, stressful time barreling towards the end of another year. Christmas, holiday plans, things to be paid for, deadlines to meet and appointments to keep. I am finding myself in a period of transition in my life. Launching my own business, moving house, fading friendships and new ones beginning and the start of a busy wedding season (exciting!) are all things on my plate at the moment. At times I worry, I get overwhelmed, emotional and tired. I think it is so important not to let these things take over, to have a wider/deeper perspective and a positive attitude. These are a few things that help me do just that:
Gratitude. Being thankful changes your outlook on life and makes you realize how much you actually have. Everyone has something to be grateful for and I try to remember the many things on my list everyday.
Perspective. Will this thing I’m worrying about matter in five years? In one year? Or even if one week? No? Let it go. Not getting caught up in the little things helps me figure out what I value in life and what really matters.
Breathe. Get outside, away from the computer/phone/work. Running is my stress release, it clears my head and gives me room to breathe. Some of my best ideas and answers to problems came to me while going for a run or walk. You should try it!
People. Surround yourself with positive people who are going to encourage and support you, build you up and make you laugh. Negative people only drag you down and create more negative energy. Ain’t nobody got time for that!
Empty your mind. I write lists. Sometimes my mind is racing with a million things and I cannot keep up. Let them overflow onto a page. Writing to-do lists or even just listing your worries/thoughts is like a detox and allows you to focus on one. thing. at. a. time.
These images are some of my favourite quotes + some of the things I have in my house that inspire me everyday. Take time to purposefully make room for inspiration. Often. And if all else fails sing a song by an empowering woman at the top of your lungs. Peace and love xx
