(studio shoot for university project)
I went to University to study photography (read a bit more about that here). I came across lots of different opportunities while studying and was able to try out many different styles of photography. One area I particularly enjoyed and centered some of my work around was fashion photography. I have always been attracted to the glamourous world of fashion, I love clothes and beauty, it is so much fun dressing up and photographing all these things is a dream! Working in fashion is exciting, sometimes stressful, fast-paced and inspiring.

I’ve been lucky to assist and work with some incredible fashion photographers as well as organizing my own shoots and photographing at NZ Fashion Week and other runway events. I’ve worked with models who have varying levels of experience and different styles. It’s amazing to work with them, posing them and working together creatively to make a strong piece of work. I am very lucky to have talented hairdresser, makeup artist, stylist, model and designer friends, some who I’ve known for years and others met along the way. Being able to collaborate with these incredible people is one of my favourite things in the world. Being around other creative minds is such a source of inspiration for me! I need to do it more often!

I am by no means a professional fashion photographer or expert in that field but I do enjoy dabbling in it every now and then. Mixing it up with weddings to create bridal styled fashion shoots is lots of fun too! Working in fashion has brought me an appreciation of beauty and style, creative inspiration and drive. When I was a bit newer to photography, fashion shoots were a great opportunity to gain some experience and become inspired. I have learned how to work well alongside other creatives and how to deal with various personalities. It requires a lot of project management skills. This has helped me extend myself in my wedding work and the way I interact with clients.

Though I think weddings will always be my number one, I am grateful to be able to delve into other fields every now and then. I think it’s important to specialize, but it is also important to step out of your box. To be inspired by different styles and other creative work, beyond photography as well. Above are just a few snippets of various projects I have worked on over the years. I’m excited to do more fashion work in the future and collaborate with amazing people and brands. It’s all about working together to create art that adds value and beauty to the world! xx
