Boathouse Nelson Wedding Photographer – Kristie + Josiah

Sharing another special day with you today – Kristie and Josiah’s beautiful Nelson wedding! Kristie is a good friend of mine; we used to live just five minutes down the road from each other in Auckland and quickly became besties thanks to our shared dry sense of humour, our love of bringing people together, and countless dinner parties and deep chats about anything and everything under the sun.

It’s been such a joy to watch her journey from independent single life to meeting her match, navigating the ups and downs of a long-distance relationship, and finally tying the knot. Being able to capture their Nelson wedding day was such an honour.

K & J got married in Kristie’s hometown, Nelson, on a crisp, sun-filled September day. Their ceremony took place in Kristie’s dad’s backyard, which was the perfect intimate setting, and they celebrated afterwards with a reception right on the water at The Boathouse. We even found a gorgeous river spot tucked away in a forested valley for their wedding photos, with plenty of golden, glowy spring light to top it off.

I also chatted with Kristie all about their love story and planning process on The Kiwi Wedding Podcast. Head over to episode 100 to hear about the highs and lows of planning a Nelson wedding, from tackling the guest list and family expectations to finding her dream dress, pulling off DIY details, managing budget stress and burnout, and everything in between.

It was the most wonderful Nelson wedding day, and I’ll always treasure this one. Below you’ll find all the incredible vendors who helped bring it to life. If you’re planning a South Island wedding, I’d love to capture your special day. I’m always happy to travel – it’s such a beautiful part of the world!

xx Lydia
