Wow, I don’t even know where to begin with this wedding. It was one of the most amazing weekends ever! Right from Amber’s initial email I knew this was going to be a special one: “For our wedding we’re wanting a celebration that really represents us to a tee – young and fun! There’s going to be a lot of love, lights and wild flowers. We really wanted to take our guests back to simpler times and having a camp wedding seemed like the perfect idea…”
Amber and Shane had a full weekend of celebrations and had their guests come stay at their venue- Piha Mill Camp. We arrived the night before the wedding for the Ros Ceremony honouring Amber’s Indian heritage where coconut milk is spread as a cleansing and blessing for the bride and groom-to-be. Dinner and hanging out round the campfire soon followed and the excitement was building for the big day! My second-shooter Sarah and I stayed with all the guests at the camp and truly felt like part of the family, it was so much fun camping out and being able to capture all the special moments.
The wedding day came and it all came together like a dream. Sue from Floral Stylist had waved her magic wand and created an amazing teepee, flowers galore and strings of lights and candles all around. Amber and Shane had a beautiful tent set up by Wildernest for their first night as a married couple, such a sweet idea!
The camp theme suited Amber and Shane to a tee. They are a beautiful, fun couple, full of joy and love! One of my favourite moments was ducking outside in the rain during the reception and capturing these two dancing together. They clearly adore each other, share many laughs together and make a pretty amazing team.
At the end of the night Amber said to me: “I feel like we’re friends now” and I agree. This is why I do and I’m blessed to be a part of some of the most incredible celebrations in people’s lives.
