25 Things I Learned by 25 Years Old

With this being my last night as a wise, old 25-year-old I thought I write down a few things I’ve learned so far in this crazy quarter of life. So much growth and change happens especially in your early twenties and I have come to know some things that are true and important in my life. While there are many more I could say and examples I could give, here are just a few, in no particular order. As cliche as it sounds, life is a journey and I’m excited for the next 25 years and what they will hold. I’d love to hear what you think and what would be on your list! We’re all in this together…

1. Quality over quantity when it comes to friendships.

2. I would not be who I am today without God’s redeeming love and the people around me.

3. Experiencing trials and failures shapes you into who you are. Whatever happens, it will pass.

4. A fringe doesn’t really work when you have super curly hair.

5. Take care of your body. Food is medicine and movement is key. But also, don’t be too hard on yourself.

6. Nature and fresh air is good for the soul. (The ocean is my favourite).

7. Building a business is not about building a huge following, but instead, forming genuine, real connections.

8. Loyalty and being generous with your time is so valued by others.

9. A lot of our millennial generation find it hard to commit to things, whether that’s a solid relationship or a dinner party… but it doesn’t have to be like this.

10. The internet is an amazing, resourceful and wonderful place and can be a destructive tool all at once.

11. Stop caring about what other people think.

12. Being wise with your money is really hard but so worth it.

13. Growing up on a farm was the best.

14. Know when to speak and when to listen.

15. Creative collaboration and sharing knowledge is powerful.

16. Being single doesn’t always mean lonely, just as being in a relationship doesn’t always mean happy.

17. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” -Jeremiah 29:11

18. We are so privileged to have everything we have. Be grateful.

19. I probably won’t buy a house until I’m in my thirties or forties and that’s fine.

20. Using your creative gift to add beauty, value, to inform, challenge and empower others is so rewarding.

21. Knowing yourself and your truth + isolating your insecurities brings freedom.

22. Travel and adventure is fuel and brings new perspective.

23. You may not be exactly where you thought you’d be at this point in your life but that’s ok.

24. Forgiveness is powerful, and it’s not for the person who wronged you, it’s for you.

25. Life is a journey full of changes and growth. Embrace it and never stop learning.
