It’s the third day of Summer already!! I could not be more excited that my favourite season has finally arrived! I went for my first swim in the ocean this season a few weeks back, ok it was a little chilly (NZ takes a while to really warm up!) but it was bliss!

November was a crazy, busy and exciting month. Wedding season fully kicked in, I have been shooting every weekend and have had some incredible couples so far, I can’t wait to show you more of their beautiful days!

As we are coming to the end of 2014, I have been doing a little review and round-up of the last 12 months. I think it’s important to celebrate the successes, learn from mistakes and look forward to a brand new year! Some things I am grateful for…

– It was a year ago now that I officially launched my new brand ‘Lydia Rachel Photography’, I’m so grateful to all my lovely clients, family and friends who’ve been huge supporters of me and I look forward to growing my business and working with more incredible people next year.

– I’ve been able to be a special part of some of my best friends weddings, either photographing or ‘bridesmaiding’ and celebrating their love. It’s always a joy to do this with those I love and I’m so happy for them!

– I’m lucky enough to live in Auckland with three babes who are some of my best friends in the world. Sometimes you have less than average days and to come home to them is always a relief. These girls have shared in my struggles and successes, personally and professionally. We have unbreakable friendships developed over many laughs, chocolate, shared wardrobes, gym and coffee dates, Snapchats, online shopping, personal jokes, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, big chats and general craziness. I couldn’t do life without them!  xx

– My beautiful family (parents, three sisters + brother-in-law) who are all advancing in their careers and lives as well as going on exciting adventures. I am forever grateful for their love and support. We will all miss my sister Esther this Christmas who has moved to London for two years, and next year Kate and her husband Sam are off to America. Just gives me more motivation to plan some overseas travel I think!

What have been the best parts of your 2014?

This Summer I’m excited for: weddings(!!), ocean swims, road-trips, Silo Park markets + cinema sessions, picnics on the beach, long and light evenings, spending time with family + friends and new adventures. I will share some 2015 goals later on in the month!
