How to Choose your Wedding Perfume

aucklandweddingphotographer_011

I am a lover of a delicious scent and feel slightly bare if I’m not wearing perfume. It becomes such a personal thing, your own little signature, part of your personality. I find when I recognize a perfume I’m reminded of the friend that wears it. Deciding what perfume to wear on your wedding day can be tricky, maybe you go with your old faithful that you’ll always love, or maybe you find something completely different and unique to your special day. For me, smells have such a link to memory. The smell of salty air or freshly cut grass reminds me of Summer. Talcum powder and freshly baked cookies remind me of staying with my Grandma. The smell of bacon reminds me of lazy Saturday mornings and big breakfasts at my family home.

So I quite like the idea of picking a special smell for your wedding day, that when you smell it months after your wedding, a rush of memories from the day will come flooding back. Aside from photos, this is one of the most special keepsakes you can have from your wedding.

One brand I love is Jo Malone (Nectarine Blossom & Honey is my favourite!) who do special wedding fragrance consultations. I think it is such a great idea, and also could be a lovely little outing with your bridesmaids or your groom. Their scents can be layered and you can create your own bespoke perfume for your wedding day, perfectly tailored to your individual tastes. Whether you like citrus, floral, woody or fruity notes, you can combine the perfect mix just for you!

Lastly, because I’m all about learning from YouTube bloggers and beauty gurus, see this video of a bride going for her personal fragrance consultation and a few tips for wearing perfume on your wedding day. I hope you have a delicious and fragrant day! xx
